Broadcom’s AEAT-84AD enhances the functionality of a singleturn module by providing multiturn capabilities and eliminates the need for alignment (via its Plug&Play feature). Notably, its ability to operate up to 125C enables applications in harsher operating environment. The AEAT-84AD provides all functions as an optoelectronicmechanical unit in order to implement, with single turn absolute encoder, an absolute multi-turn encoder at extended temperature and 12k RPM.
Broadcom’s AEAT-84AD is an add-on multi-turn gear-based counter module that adds motor shaft revolution count capability to an optical or magnetic single-turn module.
Absolute encoders are used in machines that need information about the position of components before any motion occurs. The AEAT-84AD is available as a 12- or 14-bit resolution revolution counter.
The unit consists of an IR-LED circuit board, a phototransistor (PT) circuit board, and 6 or 7 gear wheels arranged in between the PCBs.
